Sorry that we have not kept in touch and we should have.  We have an excellent puppy and enjoy every minute with him.  He loves to spend time with us and truly loves his father.  He comes to mom when he is ready for bed or not feeling good.  But he seems to enjoy spending time with his father.  Titus gets a ton of love here from us and his grandparents.  Each grandparent loves to take him and baby-sit him.

Titus attended his first obedience class last May and June (6 weeks) which helps both him and us and since then we have had no issues with him.  He is well trained and very very good.  He is a calm, somewhat lazy dog (but fits our family).  He enjoys his walks and playing fetch and playing with other dogs.  He gets along with every dog and every person.  He does not bark or jump on people, but likes to be near them.  He knows he is loved here and loves to give hugs and kisses.  He is our pride and joy.

He is also very very good with kids.  He is a puppy himself so he gets excited but is learning to be gentle.  Our niece loves trying to ride him like a horse but Titus is very careful with her.  He is a very good dog and we could not ask for more.

We went for our yearly vet visit last month and found out he was over-weight.  They were afraid it maybe thyroid problem and we put him on a diet which seems to be working he has lost weight.  I think he just wasn't getting the exercise he is use to in the summer and he just packed on some winter weight but we will keep an eye on it.

Other than that, we have found Titus to be an excellent asset to our family.  He is our kid and knows it.  He is adorable and so loving.  He is a protector but very calming to others.  Many people are surprised when he hears his age due to his attitude and personality.  He is an excellent puppy and I have attached some pictures to show you.

Hi Judy,
I am sending a couple of new photos of Chance.  He is doing well and growing
fast.  We have cut his food back a bit and he seems to have slimmed down a
bit or grown into his weight.  He is going to be a big boy though.
We have started him on his intermediate obedience classes and he is doing
well.  Everyone in the class is amazed at his calm manner.  We couldn't be
more pleased with him!  If I could convince David I would love to have
another puppy in the future.
Enjoy the photos!

Susan

Hi Judy,

I thought I would let you know that just last week we had to put our favorite dog (Kramer) down, his body was just giving up and the quality of life wasn’t there anymore.  I don’t know if you would of remembered him, he was one of 2 dogs born Sept. 1992   your sister kept his sister, im not sure what her name was though.  He lived in Cambridge then Cochrane, Alberta for 11 yrs, got to trek around the rocky mountains. And just this winter we moved to Vancouver island to parksville,  for his retirement, like so many others.

Just thought id let you know, what a great dog he was, not only our favorite but all of my family as well.  I hope you keep this beautiful breed going, and thankyou for such a great dog.

Kindest regards.

Kathy Taylor

Hi Judy,

Sorry I have not sent any pictures earlier.  Molly is a wonderful dog.  She fits perfectly into our family life.  Molly joins myself and my running group every Saturday for our long trail runs.  She outruns all of us.  In our house Molly is very quiet and loving.  She likes to be around us all the time.  She went up to grade 2 in obedience school and was considered one of the best dogs in all the classes.

Molly is 55 lbs and will probably stay at this weight with the exercise we give her. We are going away for a couple of days and all my friends are fighting over who gets to take care of Molly.  She is well loved by everyone. She is very attached to me as I am to her.  I don’t know what we would do without her.  Thank you for such a wonderful, beautiful, well behaved, smart dog.

Hello Judy!
Well, I have survived the first year of Harley the Handful ...he is so happy he can barely contain himself...always squirmimg... He is a great dog..VERY strong, athletic and very handsome (people stop to tell me so probably once a day).  He has completed puppy , beginner and pre-novice classes and I am going to sign him up for another one starting this fall . The teachers think he has potential to go quite far in obedience ...they like how attentive he is   ..how he prances (like a Lipensaner - or whatever they're called - horse!)  he has quite a spark in his eyes.

We just got back from 3 weeks holidays at a very nice cottage (with a shallow, long beach) where he spent 1/3 his time fishing, 1/3 swimming and other the third eating sticks.  He was certainly a cottage doggie  - a natural swimmer, he would swim along side me or Andy, although one day I think he kept trying to grab my hand/arm to bring me back to shore and gave the ducks a good run .  He is certainly not happy to be back at home so will get him enrolled in doggie day care asap.

I took lots of pictures and once I figure out how to get them off the camera and into the computer I will send you some (I think the last time I looked at your website, Harley"s litter (with his dad Mark and his mom - Jude I think) was no longer accessible.

Judy, I just wanted to  let you know how great our experience with Sam has been.  He has been enjoyed by our whole family.  He is so patient and so relaxed with our kids and there is alot of commotion at our house!  This mellow sweet disposition also applies to visitors.  I had a wedding party at our home this summer with about 50 guests and after he had met everyone he settled into his normal nap despite all the festivities.  People often stop to admire his beautiful white colour and are met with his great disposition .This breed was an excellent match for us and he has been a great delight to us all Judy.  Thankyou so much , Carrie Claus
P.S.  I am also thinking about a girl so don't be surprised to hear from us!

hi judy,

palace is an absolute delight. in all my years of having and interacting with dogs, i have never come across a puppy so bright.

she is essentially housetrained in the fact that she whelps/barks to go outside to do her business. since we brought her home saturday morning she has had two accidents - both my fault where she clearly indicated she wanted out and i didn't respond quickly. she completely understands the concept of going outside it is just a matter of extending her ability to hold it in which will come in its own good time.
she seems well beyond her weeks. when it comes to walking, she has adapted to a leash although would prefer to walk herself. she listens while walking in the city - which is very important. are you sure she hasn't been to obedience training?

having said all that you can't forget she's a puppy when she bounces and springs through the yard in a way that only puppies can do. it's the bounce of pure joy and delight to be playing.

we took her to the vets yesterday and she stated that she was a beautiful puppy and in great health (11 lbs). the vet then asked if she could take her into the back to show all her co-workers. you could hear the chorus of "awe"!

we are all enjoying her tremendously and she has settled in wonderfully.

i'll keep you posted on her progress.

thanks,
bill.

Hi Judy,

We wanted to thank you for providing us with such an outstanding puppy.
Prior to purchasing our dog from you we had spent a great deal of time
researching breeders in person and online which led us to you.  The
Skylon Kennel dogs were clearly the best looking with an exceptional
demeanor.  It took all of five minutes with you during our first meeting
to realize your love and vast knowledge of the Golden Retriever breed
and to know we made the right choice.

You have been terrific to deal with throughout the entire process and
were very patient dealing with our excitement in anticipation of our
puppy. We received exactly what we had requested and to this day are
still amazed on how you were able to look at a pen full of puppies and
select the one with the features and personality we were looking for.

Our dog is already learning his training commands and has adapted
exceptionally well to our house and family. If anyone is looking to
purchase a Golden Retriever puppy I can save them a lot of time and
effort of researching breeders by telling them just to call you.

Thank you again for such a great dog.

Greg & Sharon Turkstra

Hi Judy,

After 6 months I am finally letting you know that Auzzie is just fine.  He is a wonderful dog and has a great demeanor.  Some of his traits are first and foremost, sharp as a tack.  He is always alert and keen.  I think he was a born hunter.  No more squirels in our yard.  They stay on the fence now.  He seems to be a true ENGLISH golden because his stance is so erect and proper, like he's standing to the national anthem.  He is so loving and sweet, our life is forever enriched because of him.

I will send a few pics but I don't know how to send them all together so one at a time they will come.  This one is a true Auzzie picture because he is an amazing soccer player.  He deeks and batts the ball like a pro.  He can also ride a skate board believe it or not.

Take care, Jenn Kaye

Hi Judy,

Attached are a couple of pictures of the two best choices I ever made!

Sampson turned out to be "a lot of dog" in a little guy, so he is now called Sampson Alexander Fergus! At 11 weeks, Sampson weighs over 20 lbs and everyday seems to be growing even bigger paws! I think he's going to be big! We went into the vet last week and got our second shots. He was given a clean bill of health and I was told he is the perfect weight. Although his pain tolerance is a little on the "weak" side compared to Holden, he is everything you ever promised and more!

Sampson is confident, gorgeous and hilarious!!! At only 9 weeks, he learned to run to the back sliding door and bark to be let out. I cant get over how smart this dog is! He has fit into this family like a glove. Holden and him became brothers and best buds quickly. Now they get seriously upset when one is seperated from the other. I love their relationship. It is very rewarding to see dogs play together and truly love each other. Sampson has even changed Holden's "issues" for the better! I NEVER thought I would see Holden eating from a dish beside Sampson. He no longer shows aggression with his toys or his food.

Both dogs go everywhere with me. I actually sold my wagon last week to get something bigger. I now have a new SUV. The biggest conditions on the sale were my dogs safety and comfortability. Since it was such a concern with the sale of the vehicle, the dealership has asked me to bring both dogs when I pick the vehicle up, as they are dying to meet such "special" dogs! They are so spoiled. You should see how littered this house is with dog toys!

I can't thank-you enough. Obviously this was meant to be, as I could have not recieved a better dog. He has been so easy and I adore him senseless. I have recommended you a few times already to families considering a golden and will continue too in the future.

Hope you and your family are well.

Marti (Jeff, Holden and Sampson)

Good morning Judy,

I have received Mia's registration docs.  Thank you.  I have enclosed some
pictures of her so that you can see how big she is getting.  These pictures
are taken on my deck and in my front yard.  She hasn't been swimming yet
but I probably won't be able to get her out of the water next year!!  She
is truly a fabulous puppy.  She is quite attached to all of us (especially
my 7 year old son - they have a special bond - the rest of us are
jealous!!).  She loves other dogs and a friend of mine has a Golden just a
month older than her so we arrange special playdates!!  We couldn't be
happier with her!!

I'll keep in touch,

Robyn

Dear Judy,
Sorry for the delay in replying to you, but yes we got the papers last week and thank you very much.
Chloe is wonderful and growing like a weed!  Her coat is now beginning to come in and it looks like it will be fantastic - wavy and curly.  We are just thrilled with her.  She has learned most of the basic commands (sit, stay and come and shake).  She loves to chase a stick or ball and always brings it back.  We are enjoying her very much..
Our vet in Cobourg was amazed that you had already de-wormed her and referred to you as a "Rolls Royce Breeder".  We agreed!
She loves meeting people and is an attention getter when we walk her.  She is a rarity in Cobourg with her white coat.  We love it and her.  Many people have offered to look after her if we go away - what a tribute that is.
Thanks again Judy, another wonderful dog from Skylon - our third and if we go for a fourth we will call on you again as the other two were perfect too!
    Best regards,
            Jamie and Carol

Judy…thanks so much for the registration papers.  An update on Molly…well…she is absolutely wonderful.  We have just completed the Head Start programme at the McCann training center and are scheduled to begin the next level Tuesday. She does very well and I think she is soooooooooooooooooo smart.  What a beautiful disposition she has.  We went to the Roayl Winter Fair on Sunday and took Molly because we could.  It was a mob scene…I cannot tell you how many people stopped and asked where she came from and actually wrote down your name and number…you might see an influx of interest in Skylon…she is so well behaved and portable…nothing seems to bother her.  In a high stress job like mine I cannot emphasize how important it is to have a balance…Molly is my calm…Thanks KJ

Hi Judy,
We received the papers for Memphis along with your letter today I thought I would e-mail you back. I did send you an e-mail following his first vet appointment back in December, but I didn't hear back from you - I figured that things were busy over the holidays.
Memphis is WONDERFUL. He had his second vet appointment yesterday and he is becoming such a big boy - he weighs in at 30.8 pounds already! His left testicle has still not descended - it can be felt in the inguinal ring, but hasn't made all the way down yet. (I had mentioned this in my first e-mail to you, the vet isn't overly concerned at this time.)
We are absolutely thrilled with him - he is one beautiful and smart boy, and we are so glad to have him in our family.  I have attached some pictures of him, and I will definitely keep you posted on his progress!

Hi Judy,

Just thought I'd let you know that Bella is still the most wonderful
dog ever. She is 21/2 and getting better by the day. She is kind,
compassionate and loving. Very gentle and eager to please.

I gave your name to friends of ours in Calgary. Their names are Randy
and Anne Marie Block. They have had several retrievers and are
looking for a light colored one.

Hope you are well.

Best,

Evonne Whelan

Hi Judy,

Austin is just fabulous!!!!! Wow! What a sweet bundle of fur.  We are both so happy with him.  Austin has settled in nicely and met lots of people who think he is just gorgeous.  He took to the crate right away and hardly cried at all...I even had to wake him up this Am to go out.  He certainly is spoiled already..his visitors all brought him toys and we had a mini puppy party.  His favourite toy seems to be a stuffed lobster..go figure.  My friend's husky came over, for a visit.  Austin did really well with the visit, and cried when she left.

Thanks so much for mailing the paperwork. I realized after I left that I had forgotten it.  I willbe sending photos of his first day here as soon as i can upload my camera.

Austin has a vet appointment this afternoon and I just need to know what type of vaccination he had on Friday and if he has had any other treatments.

Thanks so much for the newest member of our family.
Marianne

Dear Judy,
I am writing to confirm that you have received the "new puppy questionnaire" that I have just submitted to you. I learned of your Skylon Golden Retrievers over a year ago, when I saw one of your puppies with his owner at a pet and garden center in nearby Lake Forest, Illinois. Everything about this puppy attracted me, and his owner was kind enough to give me your name. After reading your web information, I appreciate your commitment to what is best about this beloved breed. Thank you for nurturing these wonderful dogs! I hope that you will find a puppy for our family.

Sincerely,

Deborah Gledhill

EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS A TESTAMENT ON THE PURCHASE OF ONE OF MY DOGS, HE ORIGINALLY BOUGHT THE DOG TO SHOW & HAS CHOSEN TO HAVE HIS DOG CASTRATED!  I WOULD NEVER HAVE SOLD HIM A DOG HAD I KNOWN THAT IF HE DECIDED THEY WERE NOT GOING TO SHOW HIM OR WHATEVER I DO NOT APPROVE OF THIS PROCEDURE FOR A NUMBER OF REASONS.  IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS WHY I FEEL THIS WAY, PLEASE EMAIL ME & I CAN GIVE YOU MORE INFORMATION.

Hi Judy,

We received "Jude's" papers in the mail today.  I am happy to tell you he is doing GREAT!  We are all so madly in love with him.  He has quickly become another one of "the boys".  He is very gentle and of coarse very smart.

So many people stop my husband around town and ask about the new puppy they see in the yard with me.  He is stunning and takes my own breath away. His coat and face are beautiful and has a nice strong frame.

He loves the beach and is retrieving and releasing like a champ. He has really taken to life in Maine. We are most happy about his calm demeanor,  he is incredibly tolerant of a noisy household with two boys.  We are having our Invisible Fence installed next week, which will be great for all of us.
I really want to thank you for all the time you spent corresponding with me.
Sincerely,

Leigh Allen

Hi,
Just thought I would send a cute picture of Darwin. She is such a wonderful girl -listening so well and very loving. I couldn't be happier!
Darwin let the girls put bows in her hair. They wanted her to look like a golden named Rosebud on the movie 'Snow Buddies'. She looked so cute!

Thanks again for the wonderful puppy.

Nicole

We have had 2 wonderful Skylon dogs. Ginger (1981-1994) and Jenny (1994-2008)

Jenny slipped away (with us holding her) on March 2 after 14 healthy, happy years.

She was one of the most beautiful, sweet tempered dogs I have ever seen. Her gentle disposition and enthusiasm for life, endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Her passing has left a huge hole in our hearts and our lives but our memories will last forever.

I thank you for sharing these two spectacular creatures with us.

Sincerely,
Nancy Forrest Braley

Hi Judy,
Kiley said she had previously emailed you, but I wanted to follow up and let you know how much we are enjoying having Rigby as part of our family!  We continue to get multiple glowing comments about her looks and coloring, but was has impressed us most of all about her is her sweet, sweet personality.  Even though she is still a puppy, she has a great, calm demeanor with everyone she meets.  Every day she makes us laugh or smile at something she does.  Thank you so much!
Christopher King and Kiley  O'Neill

OK JUDY, THIS IS THE BEST PUPPY I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!

We will name him    SKYLON OZZY AMBROSE.

He is so calm and collected, he is great with the kids, he has been inside
with us and has only barked to go out and go potty! He is very good! I am
currently at work with him, he is doing great! I have a nice sized office
and he has been at my feet all morning! I think he may be my new best
friend and the kids will just have to deal with it. Anyway I will get a
check out tonight and try to get you a tracking ID so you can now when to
expect delivery!

Anyway I have pictures and will get them to you tomorrow! I could not be
any happier with the choice you made for us!

PS I will take him to the IABCA dog show in June on the 28-29. I don't know
much about it but Diane is going to help me and she thinks it will be great
for the entire family to get involved, so I will keep you posted on this!

THANKS SO MUCH!!!!

Judy,

My apologies for not having been in touch sooner. Hope you are doing well and that you enjoyed your trip to Phoenix. I wanted to share our newest pictures of Ms. Hannah Banana (you may have to copy & paste the link). I thought you might enjoy seeing how big and grown up she's gotten!?! We're still in shock that the little fur ball we brought home just 8 months ago has become such a big girl! I'd say lady, but Hannah's more tom-boy then princess! Not sure if you've seen "Snow-Buddies", but she mostly closely resembles Mud Buddy! The last time i picked her up up from doggie day-care they told me Hannah had learned to create her own mud - a process where she jumps in the pool, selects a spot to roll around in and continues to repeat until she's created her very own little mud-pit! You can imagine how excited & proud we were. Ha!

Despite an excessive amount of mud in our lives now, we could not be happier or more in love with her. She can be a bit sassy at times - and certainly isn't afraid of "speaking" her mind, but we did specifically ask for a  dog with lots of personality so it would appear we got what we asked for!  Hannah's also been a big hit with the neighborhood children, they routinely knock on our door to see if Hannah can come out to play.

People are constantly commenting on how beautiful she is and while she is beautiful (it's possible i'm a biased!), it's her personality & temperament that has completely won us over. Not a day goes by that she doesn't do something to make us laugh & smile. She's even been a positive influence on Samantha (our German Shepherd)I'm not sure when we'll be ready for a third dog, but whenever that is we will definitely be contacting you again!

Thanks for everything,

Cheryl & Craig Kane

Hi Judy,
I cannot believe that it has been almost 2 years since Santo came to live with us. I also cannot describe to you how much we adore him. He is the epitomy of friendship, loyalty, affection. Who could believe all this from a canine??
I can, and my family as well.
I am writing because I have been to your website and have noticed that Santo's father, Gulliver, has been bred to White Oleander. She looks absolutely lovely!!!!  We are tentatively thinking of adding to our family and can imagine what a wonderful addition a pup from Gulliver would make!
Are you taking reservations yet on this soon -to -be litter?

Regards,
Danette Smith

Hi,

I just thought I would share an updated picture of Darwin. She just loves sitting by the lake at our cottage watching the waves roll in.

Darwin is now one year old....and still just perfect! She weighs about 60lbs and I think looks just great.

Thanks again for our wonderful girl.

Nicole

Hi Judy

I have just printed out a page from your web site to give to someone in Bethel, CT who saw Gracie and wanted info. on where we got her.  I also just got the registration papers - thanks.

Gracie is a joy.  She is a beautiful dog and with her long ears and sweet face ... she reminds me of a little lamb sometimes.   We are going to obedience classes and she is the youngest one there but is a quick learner.

When we got home it only took about 3 minutes to housebreak her ... we have a large temple bell hanging on the dog to her yard and she rings it when she wants to go out.  It works like a charm.

She is now 4 months old (I will send a pix one of these days) and is 26#.  She goes everywhere with us and is a joy to travel with.  We love her so much and she often brings our other two Skylon beauties to mind, with her wonderful disposition and quick mind.

Thank you again for raising such wonderful puppies.

We'll keep you updated.  Stay well.

Nancy Braley

Hi Judy,

Pure joy… that’s what you’ve sold us!

Madeline is a delight every moment of the day, and even through the night now that she sleeps happily in her crate. She has exceeded my expectations in these first few days, and has settled in beautifully.  She’s had a steady stream of visitors, bearing gifts.  Everyone admires her darling personality, and she is so devoted to the kids already. Quick question: what should I use to clean the brown stuff inside her ears?  There isn’t a lot, but I’d like her to get used to my caring for her ears.

Here’s Maddy, quite at home on my best rug…

Hope you and Gulliver had a good day out yesterday.

Cheers,

Marsha

Hello Judith,

I just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know that Aspen (Oleander & Guliver's August 12th litter boy pup) is an ANGEL! He has adjusted so well and he is a wonderful little guy! He is going to be big. The vet expects him to get to around 85 pounds. He is such a joy. Thanks so much for your wonderful breeding. I am extremely happy with him. The other animals (Dakota, you may recall - another british cream and Chloe, a cat) absolutely love him. Again, thanks so much for such a great little fella :).

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Our beautiful baby's name is Zayn Tyson. Thankyou again for allowing us to adopt him. He is so loved already and clearly enjoying his life here. I forgot to mention to you on the phone that he has not had an accident in the house! He also has slept through the night right from the start. I will send pictures soon. Maida

Hi Judy,

How are you?  Hope all is well.
I just wanted to update you on our beautiful Sophie.
She really is a sweet girl!  The kids love her and she is so gentle with them.  She's not too big.  She weighs only 40 lbs at 5 and a half months old.
She will be graduating from Puppy classes next week.  She did very well and is  a quick learner.  We take her on two, hour long walks a day where she's
made lots of friends at the park.  Surprisingly she's not much of a chewer(hope I haven't spoken too soon) but she loves her bones and the occasional
slipper.  She's lost most of her baby teeth and her adult teeth are all coming in nicely.
She did well with the house training too.  She hasn't had an accident in the house for almost a month now.
So I just wanted to thank you again Judy.  She's been a wonderful addition to our family.  We just love her to pieces.

Wendy Whittaker

Here is a picture of Henry on January 1st.  He is 48 pounds of beautiful boy.  We love him and he is training so well.  We sits, lays down, shakes a paw, waits when he is served dinner etc.  He loves to snowshoe up at the lake off leash with all that land and freedom.  We just love him and the kids still can't wait to see him in the morning and rush home to him after school.  He is so well behaved during soccer games - meaning he can go where ever we go.

Everyone is drawn to him - what a breed!!  Even my friends who thought we were nuts to get a dog are crazy for him.

Thanks for Henry.

Brenda

She is doing VERY WELL.  A few days ago, she realized she had a permanent home and got really comfortable.  She has been down to the water to play with other dogs and is really enjoying it.  She is lovely and playful- more playful everyday as her comfort grows- she found her bark a couple of days ago.   She wants to play with the cat, but the cat is not “biting” just yet,  She has not had an accident in the house- and we do not crate her during the day- just at night.  She is the best dog I have ever taken home….

Thanks,

Paul.

Hi Judy,

It's Karen MacDonald we got our dog Mulligan (born August 22, 2003) from you.  Skylon's Impetuous Mulligan.  He is an absolute joy.  He's the best dog we've ever had.  He's perfect for us, he has high energy for his walks with Mark but is very loving and likes to snuggle with me on the couch. He's very well trained. We did work with him but he's incredibly smart. He doesn't really do anything wrong.  He never chewed. He's been really healthy except for the tummy problems he had as a puppy.  We don't have kids so he's pretty spoiled. I just work part time 5 minutes from home so he's not really on his own a lot.. We are thinking about getting another puppy but we don't want to do anything to upset Mulligan.  We wanted to see what you thought.  Is he too old now or should we wait until he's older or does it matter? We've heard from other people that have gotten a puppy when they already had a dog and they said that there is abit of an adjustment at first but then they become the best for friends.

Anyway Judy, we thought we'd go to the expert, let us know what you think we'd like to get another puppy but the first priority is Mulligan's happiness.

Thanks.

Hi Judy,

We got the papers in the mail.  Thank you for sending them.  Jersey
will be visiting the vet on Saturday for his next set of shots.  He is
doing great!!!  He is very smart.  He knew his name within a couple
days, knows to sit and stay and come when called.  He also lies down
(this one is more occasional).  He goes to the door when he has to go
out so is pretty much house trained, just need to pay attention still
just in case.  He is a joy!  He loves his crate and the big bunny that
is in there with him.  He is ok through the night also which didn't
take too long.  We know there is still lots of training to come and
look forward to it.  He is very excited and playful.  Also very loving
and such a handsome puppy!

I'll send you a separate email with a picture of him : )

We'll keep you posted on his progress!  thanks,
Selena + family

Allo Judy,

Emerald is very well.   She is a lovely puppy.  I like so much her caracter, always smooth and calm.  She likes to run and play with the other ones.  When she is outside looking a bird in alert, she is fantastik: head, top line etc.  very very nice.

Thank you again

Ginette

This puppy was sold for show & breeding.

Hi Judy,

Thought you'd like to hear an update on how Finley is doing in his new home.

We can't imagine making a better choice of a puppy.  He is SO well behaved it is incredible.  The calm temperment we saw in your house is exactly what we have at home with a healthy dose of the usual puppy curiosity.  The result is he has been exploring all of his new surroundings close to our sides and without getting in any type of trouble.  I will admit that it probably has something to do with us as well as the more experience you have raising a puppy the better you probably are at it, but really I think most of it has to come from him.  He is incredibly calm and it blows people away when they meet him for the first time that he "is that well trained".  Only we know that we really haven't done anything training wise yet.

He walks very well on his leash and Duncan has picked up his stride a little to keep up.  Finley likes to walk in a heel position already although he does have a tendancy to want to change sides which puts him underfoot so we have a little work to do there.  He seems to have learned his name already and also is getting pretty good at come and sit.  Stay will take a little longer to teach!  There has only been one accident in the house and today he actually asked to be let outside and then promptly did his pee on the grass.  Pretty good progress there.  Also good news is that he loves his kennel cage (whether at my house or my mom's) and runs right in and plops down.  When we do close the door at night or when we go out there is not a peep from him.  I have enjoyed two very quiet nights of sleep in a row, and when I wake up have even been able to have my shower before coming down to see him.  I let him out, he trots straight to the back door and then outside to do his thing.  Seems like he is getting well established in all the routines already.

He is very good with Duncan and Duncan with him.  He has yet to torment Duncan in any of the usual puppy ways - biting ears, tail etc. - and only offers Duncan the occaissonal big wet puppy kiss on the face.  He follows Duncan around the house and yard, walks well with him, and plops down against him to nap.  Duncan has shown a lot of patience and tolerance with him and has shared all his toys and of course the attention very well.  We couldn't have imagined it working better!

We had him to the vet today and they were quite impressed with both his temperment and his health.  The vet does favour neutering so we are going to be differing with her there as we are committed to holding the course we discussed with you barring any health or unalterable behavioural problems.  I may just lie to her and tell her that you have asked to have us keep him intact to use for breeding.  That might save us the grief of an ongoing debate with her.

Anyway, I wanted you to know that all is very well with Finley in his new life.  We are taking the usual ton of new puppy photos so at some point we will be sending more your way.  I should add one more thing - like Duncan, Finely fancies himself a lap dog and constantly wants to be in physical contact with us - leaning against a leg, lying down on a foot, or if invited onto the couch head in your lap.  It is beautiful.

Thanks again and all the best to you, your family and your dogs!

Hi Judy,

Hope all’s well with you and your lovely dogs. Attached are some pictures of Maddy (taken at 10 mons.).  I think she looks a lot like Ikea…especially her profile. She’s now a year old and weighs in at a delightful 54 lbs. She was spayed this week, and is recovering nicely. We continue to enjoy her quirky personality. She is obedient, and has become the perfect house dog… even though she has “furniture” privileges, and sometimes thinks she is a lap dog.  We can’t imagine our household without her. She’s a beauty and gets tons of compliments from people when we are out with her, and I always credit you for breeding such a lovely dog.

Thanks again,

Marsha

Hi Judy,

Thanks for the registration papers for Finley.  I have been meaning to write you for quite some time to tell you how well Finley is doing but never seem to get around to it.  He is a fantastic dog and we are very satisfied.

He and Duncan continue to get along really well and Duncan has, I think, been very helpful in helping him be calm in the house.  He is very good and really has been in no trouble.  He sleeps in my room with Duncan and the only time we have to use the crate is during the day if we go out and leave the dogs behind.  He and Duncan get to the big leash free park on the lake near the Mississauga/Oakville border once or twice a day for about an hour.  Finley has helped to pick Duncan up enough that that amount of exercise does not appear to much for him and for Finley it is a chance to run and play we lots of new friends he has made.  I have had him in to the school already to meet the kids and he was a club mascot at a couple of regattas this summer.  He also spent some time with me in the coach boat helping to coach some of the crews at the club.

He has a voracious appetite but we are resticting his caloric intake as per your feeding instructions.  He is lean and muscular looking and the vet says he is growing very well.  He loves his food and his treats - chicken thighs, backs or necks and some green - broccoli, cauliflower, carrots etc.  Unlike Duncan who watches us eat our dinner with hopeful eyes hoping we save some for him, Finley usually is asleep at our feet when we eat.

At this point he is about 6 1/2 months old.  He is quite a tall little boy and I think he will end up being a very big dog which is fine with us.  He has quite a personality and seems to win everyone over with his affectionate and playful nature.  I am quite pleased with his progress in the obedience training we have done to date.

I have enclosed some photos for you.  I must admit that I am not the best photographer and, this being our third golden, we are probably not taking as many photos as we did with the first two just because we have been through it before.  I guess we are too busy living in the moment and enjoying our time with both dogs to remember to take photos sometimes.  Anyway here are some of what we have taken recently.  Enjoy.

Hope all is well with you, your family and your dogs.  We'd love to bring Finley up for a visit at some point if you'd like to see him.

Regards,

Larry

Hi Judy:
Hope all is well in your golden world.  Ours is fantastic!
Skylon's  Falling Bruich is an absolute delight. Only yesterday she ate the cardboard box that the wine came in. She did leave the wine for us which was very thoughtful of her. While my husband was cleaning up that mess she managed to grab 4
butter tarts off the table for dessert.  She is just soooooooooo cute when she is bad!
Having said that she is a very adorable and loving girl. She loves to play and to kiss everyone who gets close to her. She charms anyone she meets and is a constant source of entertainment.
We are so thankful to have her as part of our family. Our other golden, Somerset adores her too and we cannot separate them. They are so beautiful together .
Take care.
Marilyn
ps we did get the registration certificate
thanks

Hi Judy, I thought I would send you an update on our best friend Maguire!  He is the lucky pup of Sugarbush and Bentley and he just turned 12yrs old on October 1st!  He is doing good, abit slower and his hips/back legs are starting to get a bit weeker but he can tear the grass up good to roll around in no problem!  He has been the body guard to our two special possesions, our boys, 10yrs old & 5yrs old.  I was soo happy to see pictures of Sugarbush and what an long life she had..wow 16yrs is amazing, she was a beautiful dog! It breaks my heart to think of every having to let Maguire go as he is our very best friend and has given us soo much love over the years.  He has always been and continues to be a big talker and we love it!!

I thought I would send you just a couple pictures and to let you know what a wonderful family pet he has been.

Thanks
Michelle Brenner

Hi Judy,
I hope you are doing well :)
Just wanted to let you know what a wonderful pup Skye is - she truly is my princess. Everywhere I go, people stop and ask me where I got her....she is so laid back and friendly, such a sweet, cuddly girl...
(Actually I think one of my friends maybe in contact with you soon to put their name forward for a puppy....)
Thanks again for a wonderful addition to my family and Happy New Year to you
Nicola

Hi Judy,

Here are some pics of Willow. She is doing great and is amazing. LOVE HER!!! Ginger is adapting to her and is starting
to train her. She loves her raw chicken. How much do I give her and can she eat the necks. Lawrence seems to think
you said no necks. I thought you said everything even the necks. Our food arrived on Monday. I ordered it Thursday night
so shipping is prompt. Ginger is enjoying the food and I am giving her the portions you suggested. She has lost some
weight since Skye passed away because she isn't finishing Skye's food. She is looking smaller to me and not as husky. She
does get plenty of exercise so that isn't an issue. Hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks again!

Cathy

P.S. This is their third dog from me.

Hi Judy
Zoboo's first weekend at our cottage as a roaring success...she found the lake!   She is too funny jumping through waves the first day..of course I didn't have a camera that day.  Here are a couple of pictures for you.   She has settled in really great and her personality is beginning to shine.  Everyone meeting her falls in love .  In fact a friend's parents asked me for your email as they are very interested in possibly getting a female from you.  Enjoy the pictures.
